Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) will remain arranged from Monday in all the municipalities that are set to go to opinion polls on December 30.

The EC on Sunday took the pronouncement about the use of paramilitary force at the side of members of regular law enforcement agencies to ensure fair opinion polls, said by an official of Election Commission.

Each municipality with over 1 lakh voters will get two platoons of BGB (35 members in each platoon) while one platoon-plus BGB will be posted in each municipality with 50,000 to 1 lakh voters, one platoon in each municipality having 10,000-50,000 voters and less than one platoon in other municipalities each having less than 10,000 voters, CEC said.

More than 1 lakh members of dissimilar law enforcement agencies, including police, Rapid Action Battalion, BGB, Bangladesh Coast Guard and Ansar, will remain arranged in the municipality areas for four days — December 28-31, 2015.
